An interesting read for several reasons to anyone who sat down and tried to understand why we are here on this earth. I'm not saying he answers the question for you! You have to do that. This year I will be 83 before the year ends. I recommend this book who asks oneself the tough questions. It probably will be more beneficial to people over 50. It is also interesting to understand how Dr. Peck has grown since the first book!
Great insight into psycotherapy, religion, why it turns people off, why it shouldn't, community as a whole, why we need community. Moreso,why we need God. Especially now! Look at what's happening around us and you'll see why things are turning so bad.....not just from a lackof morals, but a lack of spirituality and knowing there is Someone, namely God who is in control. Selfies, what I call all the self-centered people, the whiners, the out to get rid of free speech, the overly political correct morons might read this. Written in 1993, Peck's messageis timeless. There's a reason why we need each other~
This book, when read like your life depends on it, is one of the most amazing self-help books written. I studied it with yellow marker, marginal notes and turned down corners in 1997 and it was a major turning point for me. I highly recommend reading it if you're confused about why you do what you do or why others do what they do.
Peck continues to deliver a bitter truth. He is the authority on self-growth and true self-exploration as far as I am concerned. If you regularly read self help/psychology books, this is a must buy!Note: I would recommend reading "Road Less Traveled" if you have not done so yet.
This is the third book in Peck's travels down that road. I can give you the outline for the three - #1 - Life is difficult #2 - Life is complex #3 - Life does not get easy. Normally a sequel is not as good as the first book, but I was pleasantly surprised at the knowledge contained in this book. The explanation for spiritual grow was an eye opener to me and something that I can apply in my life.The book is a wealth of information from the beginning to the end and most of us will have to read it two or three times to understand all the concepts in the book.The book is for every one who is seeking a deeper meaning to life.
