From a diet standpoint this isn't much more than a superficial discussion of junk food and alcohol. While I agree with many of the points made, the scriptural arguments used were weak. (Thus the low rating.) A little more examination of the context and comparison with other passages would have made the true meaning clear.In 1 Tim 4:8 in context has nothing to do with physical exercise in the sense the author is talking about. Paul is referring to those who think following legalistic teaching will benefit them spiritually.In Eph 5:18 Paul could have easily said "don't drink wine" instead he said don't get drunk. Wine in the New Testament was an intoxicating beverage. That's why it made them drunk! But the only admonition against drinking is if it causes a brother to stumble. The same which is said for meat.From the book: ""Thou shalt not worship any idols." Food and alcohol can easily become idols in this world." Really! The same can be said for your spouse, your child, your car, your church, and just about anything else you can name.I'll leave it other readers to check out the rest of the Scripture references.Junk food is bad. I agree. Drinking alcohol can be very problematic. I agree. Taking care of the body is good. I agree. But please don't misuse Scripture to make the point.

I was thrilled to find this book! I don't think there is nearly enough discussion on this subject. He uses scripture passages in ways I had not thought of and really gave me a lot of food for thought (if you'll pardon the pun). He doesn't shy away from some controversial topics either, like the use of alcohol. He explains his beliefs Biblical, but in a rational tone that's scholarly, as opposed to sounding like a damning zealot.It's not a long book, but it's full of thought, and it's helped me as a springboard for deeper research. Very interesting and I recommend it.

Very, very basic. I think "juvenile" was the word I used when my husband asked me what I thought of it. Only took maybe 30 minutes to read it. It doesn't discuss or explain anything, just basically - this is what the Bible says about .... So just Go read your Bible instead. If you want health advice from a Christian perspective look for a different book. You won't get much out of this.

Intriguing story. Author does a good job keeping the readers attention throughout with great detail in every chapter. There is also much to learn from it. Christian book lovers should enjoy this one.
