Mr. Jennings' story is so very inspiring,he is a leader, role model, humble, and an inspiration to many, but most importantly he is a man of God and he brings everyone right back to the basics. Go get the book!!!!

When you look at Rashad, you see a fit, handsome, confident guy who played in the NFL and succeeded on Dancing with the Stars. But looks can be deceiving. If you met Rashad today, you wouldn't know that he used to be overweight, undisciplined and unfocused. He struggled in the classroom and was not a star in sports either. The If in Life tells the inspirational story of how he got from Point A to Points B, C and beyond. It's touching but also relatable and funny. While the book was created with readers twelve and up in mind, this is a book adults will enjoy too.

Rashad’s story is so incredibly inspiring! This is a story for all ages and a book you just won’t be able to put down! This is a book you won’t regret reading!

This is undoubtedly the best inspirational bio I have ever read. I could relate to so much Rashad shared in his book. I found myself continually seeking love and approval from those I loved. Like he said, we have to know our own value and be the best we can be for ourselves and God. This would be a great graduation gift for all youth as they embark on their new life. Just wish I'd had this book to read when I was in my teens. Life does have some harsh lessons. It depends on how we handle them. This book literally gave me LIFE! Not only did it give me insight into the LIFE of someone I truly admire; it gave me just what I needed spiritually to continue to fight through the many challenges I face everyday that are very much similar to the ones Rashad faced in his life! I met Rashad personally on a flight from Miami. He is a wonderful person and made my trip so very enjoyable. I am a Senior and was traveling alone and on oxygen. He was so kind to me and we enjoyed such nice conversations during our flight time. I bought quite a few of these books and gave them as gifts for Christmas. Everyone enjoyed them and shared them with their grandchildren and children. The book is inspirational and a fantastic read. This is a great book for all ages and great gift for loved ones. I got the Kindle copy of this book. For the record, my 5-year old absolutely loves it! She said "IT'S AWESOME!" She loved seeing the pictures of different dinosaurs, and hearing facts about them.I, as a graphic designer, had a few issues. I guess with the name 'speedy publishing' I shouldn't have expected much. The publisher's name says it all. This is a book that was literally just 'thrown together'. The more realistic pictures of dinosaurs don't go with the pages with the cartoon dinos with he facts on them at all. It would have been more educational and useful if, at the very least, the names of the dinosaurs were added to the photos.The pages with the cartoon dinos are simply re-used over and over, with different facts on them, and most of the time the facts cover up the entire illustration, which in my opinion, means that the illustration probably shouldn't be used on those pages.As a mom, my issues were simply the typos. There aren't a ton, but they are noticeable. One one page, where they talk about the dinosaurs' brains, I'm almost completely sure that an entire word was left out of a sentence, which makes it particularly difficult to read.All in all, it's a good book for what it is, but it's not something that I would ever pay to own in print form, because it's just not worth the money.I received this dinosaur facts for kids e-book for the purpose of my review, but my opinions are 100% my own, and based on MY personal use. I was not told what to say, only asked to give an honest review based on my own experience with the product.

I got the Kindle version of this book and was a bit disappointed. While there are a ton of pictures, none of the pictures have any text to indicate what dinosaur we are looking at. There is no reference page at the end that says what they are and so there are just a bunch of black and white pictures (in the print version they are in color, as well as if you use the phone Kindle app) of dinosaurs that my daughter kept asking "what is that one", leading me to have to sit at my computer to go through the book with her and constantly search and hunt to find out what type of dinosaur it was. I went ahead and loaded the Kindle app on my phone so we could at least look at the pictures in color. At least on the app version, in color, you can see the nicely computer-rendered dinosaurs in full color. Some you could figure out based on the text page before or after, but not all. This was horribly frustrating and a big fault in the book, especially since there were more pictures than facts throughout. The facts themselves were good and we found them interesting. Since my daughter LOVES dinosaurs she ate up all the information she could from this little book.Based on other reviews, it seems the way to go with this book is the print version. If you are going to get the Kindle version, pull it up on a color screen, on a normal Kindle, it leaves A LOT to be desired and isn't worth your time.Note: I received this book at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

I purchased this book for my son who just loves anything with dinosaurs. The book contains many dinosaurs pictures, which are my son’s favorite, as well as cartoon versions of dinosaurs on the facts pages. The book is beautifully illustrated and is simple and not overwhelming. It is probably the best dinosaur book I've purchased for my younger child. I have the digital version, so I put it on my son’s tablet with his other books, and I have seen him choose this book several times over others. It is such a great book and my son has had many hours of fun and learning reading this book. The fact descriptions are easy to understand and they provide some really fun and interesting facts. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a child that is interested in dinosaurs!I must disclose I received this book for a free or discounted price for my honest and unbiased review.I will update after continued use as it is too soon to tell perhaps.Note: I received a discount on the product for my fair and honest

For the record I got this book for my grandson...He is obsessed with dinosaurs so when I seen that is book was available for the Kindle I decided to get it. There are times when he likes to play on the Kindle just like the others but because he is little he really has no idea what to do. Well when he seen this book he was so excited. The colorful photos were nice and bright and you could clearly see that the book was going to be about dinosaurs which is kind of his world as of now. So as far as that goes he really liked it however from a parental point of view I did not like the fact that it did not provide and educational teachings. At bare minimum the names of the dinosaur could have been provided on each page. Maybe even a brief lesson or facts about that dinosaur. Overall, I would not say that the book is a complete shot my grandson was happy about seeing the dinosaur but at his age it does not take much. The book clearly stated that it was dinosaur facts but not many important or relevant facts were provided. But the photos were GREAT.... It would have been even better to be able to color photos of the dinosaurs. Some of the specific technology described in this book is a little outdated now, but the core techniques live on.Greenspun's writing is a delight to read, and the information he shares here will provide you with the foundational knowledge on which to build a wide variety of web applications.Buy this book (or read the online version at philip.greenspun.com), follow the examples, and start building yourself (and others) great, content-filled, easy-to-use web sites.

This book focuses on the goals of Web site design rather than the nuts and bolts. Although the book contains specific code fragments, it is not a coding book. Rather it is a chronicle of Greenspun's experiences in setting up more than 50 Web sites over the years. This chronicle contains many hard-won lessons that will help prevent the reader from making similar mistakes. Greenspun has an easy-to-read writing style and a wry sense of humor. (The book has no CD ROM attached to the inside back cover but a picture of a CD ROM with the international "No" symbol overprinted. All code an more is available from Greenspun's Web sites, as you would expect from a book about Web sites.) He also emphasizes esthetic choices and subscribes to a minimalist visual style, in the book and for Web sites, that enhance reading and make downloads as fast as possible.

It would be inefficient to repeat all the glowing compliments about this book made by previous reviewers. My favorite aspect of this must-read book are the true-to-life examples that bring the esoterica of this topic to a level the rest of us can understand and enjoy. As an example of such an example, I've quoted this from Chapter 11, on why backups are vital: "At noon, an ugly mob of users assembles outside your office, angered by your introduction of frames and failure to include WIDTH and HEIGHT tags on IMGs. You send one of your graphic designers out to explain how 'cool' it looked when run off a local disk in a demo to the Vice-President. The mob stones him to death and then burns your server farm to the ground." Need I say more?

Philip Greenspun's "Database Backed Web Sites" is an irreverent but informational and entertaining book that reads like a cross between a Dogbert management handbook and an O'Reilly manual. This book is completely unique to any technical manual I have ever read. It presents pertinent technical material in a way that is actually entertaining. This book is worth reading for any person interested in setting up a Web site (whether or not the site will include interactive database systems). It is particularly useful for technical personnel, but also contains enough high-level information to make it useful for less technical managers. This book is almost unique in the way that Mr. Greenspun gives his experience-based opinions on web tool and database manufacturers. No wishy-washy reviews exist in this book. Mr. Greenspun has case-reviewed his personal use of many of the more and less popular tools available today. Some of these reviews strongly suggest certain tools, other reviews strongly urge the reader not to use others. Mr. Greenspun is not afraid of offending manufacturers which have brought immature and ill-conceived products to market. This attribute is lacking in many of the technical magazines which exist today because the editors of these magazines cannot offend their advertisers. Because of Mr. Greenspun's different approach to tool review and his overall description of web technology, he has built an immensely informational book. I strongly suggest "Database Backed Web Sites".

There is seemingly an endless supply of books about 'The Web', so it's hard to get excited about any one in particular. Philip Greenspun's "Database Backed Web Sites: the thinking person's guide to web publishing", on the other hand, is very good. As opposed to being a compendium of HTML tags and pre-made home pages "so you can be online tonight!", the book's aim is to make the reader aware that there's more to the web than cute Java scripts and silly animated GIFs. The main idea is that a static web site resembles a coffee table book with pretty pictures: you look at it once or twice, then it's just taking space. Greenspun explains how to create web sites with databases behind them to manage the content, provide interactive discussion forums where the users provide a lot of the content, and help analyze the server logs to see what your users are doing while visiting your web site. Instead of the step-by-step approach, teaching is done by case studies, which I consider a preferrable approach, since it makes the reader think and forces understanding before something can be produced. There's plenty of light humor throughout the book, without getting too silly or distracting from the main purpose. And the book doesn't come with a CD. This is actually a good thing, since the author makes what would be on the CD available on the Internet via FTP servers. This has the advantage that the material can be updated over time. The book includes a light discussion of Internet connectivity options, as well as a somewhat detailed description of the web server software and operating systems in use. While not complete (VMS, for example, is not mentioned), it's impossible to be current while publishing a book. Even a monthly magazine is out of date before it hits the stand. In sum, definitely recommended reading.
